GenAI · a Creata Games direction

Games made with generative AI — and the curation the market lacks

Making games with AI, cheaply and fast, is something everyone can do now — which is exactly why it is worth nothing on its own. What is scarce is not AI content but trust in it. That is what we work on.

Where we stand

We do not sell “made with AI” as a virtue. AI is a way of producing, not an argument for the player. Everything we publish, show or admit to a programme meets three conditions.

01
Disclosure layer by layer

Not a tick saying “AI was used”, but specifics: code, art, audio, video and narrative — what exactly, and with which tool. We disclose beyond what the platforms require: when the rules tighten, there is nothing to redo.

02
Playability as a condition

Raw gameplay footage instead of a trailer, hands-on jury playtesting, the right to ask for the source. A polished clip is not a substitute for a game you can actually play.

03
Responsibility for what ships

Clean rights on every asset, checks against third-party intellectual property, compliance with platform rules. The author answers for what they hand over — and knows it before the start.

What is happening in the market

The figures below come from a full census of 53,597 Steam games released between July 2023 and July 2026.

one in three
new Steam games disclose AI use, mid-2026
60–90 %
of the growth in monthly Steam releases are AI-flagged games
~$300
is what the median game with at least one review earns
55 %
of the normal rate — an AI-flagged game's chance of reaching even modest success

The study's own conclusion: this is “a volume story, not a quality story” — more shots on goal, not better ones. The market is flooded with supply, and the only filter left to a player is a label. So we invest in curation, not volume.

What we do

AI in production on our own titles

Art, audio, localization and marketing materials — where AI cuts cost and time without touching playability.

Open →
GenAI Jam

Twelve days, a playable web game, AI in at least two of four layers, disclosure required. The finale is on the forum stage.

Open →
GenAI Games Incubator

Four weeks after the jam: courses, mentoring, taking the prototype to Demo Day.

Open →
GameDev Creaton

AI-made creatives and companion content for live campaigns — where the effect is measured immediately.

Open →
Creata Academy intensive

The AI-native game pipeline: where AI helps, where it gets in the way, and what happens with rights and licences.

The Creata disclosure standard

The format we apply to ourselves and give away freely: use it in your games, jams and storefronts. It goes further than the stores require — which is exactly why it works as a quality signal.

Code
Which parts were written with an AI assistant, what a human reviewed and rewrote
Art
Which assets were generated, with which tool, what was finished by hand
Audio
Music, sound, voice: the tool and the share that was generated
Video and narrative
Trailers, cutscenes, texts and dialogue — what was generated, what was written
Rights
Every tool's terms allow commercial use; no third-party intellectual property is present
Human in the loop
Who answers for the result and what exactly they checked before release

Steam requires disclosure of content players consume, and separately of content generated during play; itch.io asks projects to be labelled by material type. Our format covers both and adds what neither has: who answers for the result.

We are a studio looking for a publisher

Your game is made with AI and it plays? Send it — we look at the build, not the deck. Consideration, not a promise to publish.

We are building an AI game and want the incubator

No prototype yet, or a rough one — then the jam and the incubator are for you: four weeks, courses, mentors, Demo Day.
